Manchester Museum Visit

Year 10 students from Fleetwood High School visited Manchester Museum on Thursday 20th September as part of their autumn term Graphic design project. Students have been tasked with designing a range of natural history inspired products to be sold in the museum gift shop, and visited a range of exhibits to conduct some primary research.

Manchester Museum is part of Manchester Metropolitan University and is a rich source of remarkable natural history exhibits including a T-Rex skeleton, Ancient Egyptian mummies and thousands of mammal, reptile and insect specimens.

Graphics teacher Ms Bradley-Elwell says, “The students learned about the evolution of the living world and how various species have developed. They produced a range of sketches whilst at the museum and took photographic reference to bring back to school for use in lessons. Learners will now use their research as inspiration for their own gift shop range including textile design, illustration and interactive models.”
