Fleetwood Year 11 Aim High

Fleetwood High School recently held a Help Your Child Succeed Evening, aimed at supporting Year 11 in what is a vital examination year.

Numerous Year11 students and their parents attended the evening in the school hall. Head Teacher, Richard Barnes, gave an informative talk about different revision techniques, the importance of GCSE qualifications, and how vital good punctuality and attendance is to attaining success.

Deputy Head Teacher, Andrew Abbass, then spoke to students and their parents regarding the future, beyond this year. He outlined possible progress to different colleges in the area, and discussed careers advice available locally. The school's Head's of Department, including English and Maths, then gave specific guidance on how students can obtain their personal best in this final year of their high school life.

Head Teacher Mr Barnes says, "Evidence clearly shows that when school and parents work together, young people are more successful in their GCSEs. With this in mind, the aim of the evening was to provide parents with a clear outline of the strategies Fleetwood High School has put into place to ensure that students achieve their personal best. A similar Year 10 evening is also due to take place next week."
