Kane Marriot, a Year 11 student at Fleetwood High School, has recently attained the prestigious Step Into Sport gold award.

Kane has achieved this impressive accolade for giving up no less than two hundred hours of his own time to sports volunteering. He was presented with this award by his headteacher, Steve Roe, in a recent celebratory assembly.

Kane has previously attained bronze and silver certificates, and then discovered last month that he had also gained the gold standard award. All volunteering has been in his own time, much of it at the weekends and in holidays, and a substantial part of it has been completed with Kane's home team Fleetwood Town Football Club. This is a fantastic achievement for Kane, who is the first pupil in the school to achieve the award. The school is also proud of Kane's fellow student Jessica Martin, who has also put a tremendous effort into sports volunteering and has  attained a silver award.
